Heartbreak in Astana: Renowned Traveler’s Bicycle Stolen After Epic 76-Day Journey Across the Kazakh Steppe

Astana, Kazakhstan — A beloved bicycle that carried famous traveler Burlen Adiletkyzy across the vast Kazakh steppe for 76 days has been stolen in the capital city. The distressing incident was brought to public attention by journalist Berdibek Kabaiuly, as reported by Tiek.kz.

A Desperate Plea for Help

Kabaiuly shared the unfortunate news on his Facebook page, highlighting the immense sentimental value the stolen bike holds for the young traveler. According to the journalist, Adiletkyzy is currently devastated by the loss of her trusty companion.

“You all know Burlen, our brave cyclist,” Kabaiuly wrote. “The very bike she rode for 76 days across the entire Kazakh steppe was stolen right from its parking spot in Astana. She is currently in tears, appealing to the public for help. It goes without saying just how precious this bicycle is to her.”

An Appeal to the Police—and the Thief

In his post, the journalist publicly urged the Astana Police Department to act swiftly, find the culprit, and return the well-traveled bicycle to its rightful owner.

However, Kabaiuly also expressed hope for a peaceful and voluntary resolution, adding a direct message to the person responsible: “It would be the best outcome if the thief’s conscience woke up and they simply returned it themselves.”

Background: Who is Burlen Adiletkyzy?

Originally from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) in China, Burlen Adiletkyzy is a seasoned cyclist known for her endurance and love for the road. She kicked off her latest massive cycling expedition across Kazakhstan in April of this year.
