Tokayev Meets Nvidia VP: What the AI Giant is Building in Kazakhstan

Astana — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently held a strategic meeting with Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of the American tech behemoth Nvidia. The discussions centered on expanding artificial intelligence infrastructure across the republic, the ambitious “Data Center Valley” project in Ekibastuz, and the training of highly qualified IT professionals, Tiek.kz reports.

A Key Player in the Global AI Market

The Head of State noted Nvidia’s pivotal role in shaping the global artificial intelligence ecosystem and emphasized the importance of integrating cutting-edge digital solutions into priority sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy.

Founded in California in 1993, Nvidia has evolved from a developer of gaming graphics cards into the most profitable high-tech corporation in the world:

  • Capitalization and Workforce: The company’s market value exceeds $5 trillion, maintained by a relatively lean workforce of around 42,000 employees.

  • Record Profit Margins: According to Visual Capitalist and the Fortune Global 500, for every $100 in revenue, Nvidia retains a staggering $55.60 in net profit. This is an absolute record among the planet’s largest corporations (by comparison, Microsoft retains $36.10, Alphabet and Meta sit just over $30, and auto giant Toyota retains $7.60).

  • Financial Growth: The company’s annual revenue has surged by over 65%, with net profits reaching approximately $120 billion.

The delegation was represented by Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of Omniverse and Simulation Technology, who has been with Nvidia since 2002. Under his leadership, the company is building the Omniverse platform, which generates precise digital twins of the physical world to train robots and AI systems.

Alem.Cloud and AI-Farabium Supercomputers

Kazakhstan’s cooperation with Nvidia is already grounded in active infrastructure. Two powerful supercomputing clusters are currently operational in the country:

  • Alem.Cloud: A supercomputer powered by 512 Nvidia H200 GPUs, launched with the participation of the President. The system officially entered the global TOP-500 supercomputer rankings, securing the 86th spot. Its massive computing resources are accessible to government agencies, universities, researchers, and domestic businesses.

  • AI-Farabium: A cluster launched by Kazakhtelecom at the Digital Bridge 2025 forum. The capacities of this system are actively utilized to train Kazakhstan’s domestic large language models, KazLLM and AlemLLM.

“Data Center Valley” in Ekibastuz and a $10 Billion Investment

The flagship initiative of this partnership is the “Data Center Valley” project in Ekibastuz. In June 2026, the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan signed landmark agreements with Nvidia and Firebird worth a staggering $10 billion.

According to the division of responsibilities:

  • Kazakhstan will provide the land, necessary power capacity, and foundational engineering infrastructure. In the first phase, the complex’s computing power will reach approximately 300 MW, with future scalability up to 1 GW.

  • Firebird and Nvidia are responsible for the technological outfitting and the supply of next-generation graphics chips.

Construction of the first data center is scheduled to begin in 2027. Ultimately, Kazakhstan aims to attract up to $30 billion in total investments into the Ekibastuz “Data Center Valley,” firmly cementing its status as the premier computational hub of Eurasia.
