Media Reports: Ukrainian Military Ordered to Halt Fire During Visit by Trump’s Envoys

Kyiv — The Ukrainian armed forces have reportedly received official orders to maintain a strict ceasefire along the front lines from 00:00 on September 5 until 23:59 on September 8. The development was initially reported by the local outlet Ukrainska Pravda, with Tiek.kz relaying the information via Radio Azattyk.

Official Silence but Prior Commitments

As of now, the Office of the President of Ukraine has not issued an official confirmation regarding the ceasefire mandate. However, the move aligns with recent statements from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who previously indicated that Kyiv was prepared to temporarily suspend airstrikes on Russian territory during the visit of U.S. special envoys dispatched by Donald Trump.

Washington’s Diplomatic Mission

The pause in hostilities appears to be a direct result of American diplomatic coordination. According to The New York Times, which cited internal sources, Washington formally requested both Moscow and Kyiv to temporarily halt mutual strikes ahead of the trip to guarantee the absolute safety of the visiting delegation.

The high-level American delegation, led by special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, is operating on a tight diplomatic schedule:

  • Saturday, September 5: High-level meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

  • Sunday, September 6: Diplomatic negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.
